Our Manufesto for the Castle Point Local Elections 2016

The Liberal Democrats believe in a strong economy and a fairer society.

Through the party's Our Environment Protected campaign, we will safeguard our

open spaces and support the protection of green belt with a focus on

the re-use of brownfield sites. We will concentrate on the use of renewables

and low carbon transport to improve air quality.

As our population grows, we need affordable homes for all and a robust

infrastructure to meet these extra demands. With homes, we need

Prosperity for All, to support the aspiring generation, as well as

doing all we can to protect those that have saved for their retirement.

We will take every opportunity, to scrutinise and assess the value of

every pound levied in council tax, to all who live and work in the

borough. We support the Hadleigh Town Centre Masterplan and will ensure

we build on the cultural, retail and leisure developments for the town,

while increasing economic activity in Hadleigh to benefit everyone.

We believe in the party's Secure Communities commitment with continued

vigilance around levels of crime, in particular vehicle crime. We believe

a review of police stations cuts and staff in the borough are urgently

needed, with more PCSOs on the beat.

Transparency and openness in government is a cornerstone of the Liberal Democrats

Power to the People initiative, which would open up Town Hall and

encourage grass roots communities. We want people in Castle Point to be

better informed so they can become more involved.
