Adopt Open Spaces on New Housing Estates

Residents on new housing estates are paying full council tax and additional private management fees for green spaces and play areas. This is unfair. We call on the council to adopt these open spaces so they are maintained as public assets.

We, the undersigned, call on the council to:

  1. Adopt open spaces, play areas and landscaped land on new housing estates wherever legally and financially viable.
  2. Refuse future arrangements that leave residents paying private estate management charges for basic public amenities.
  3. Publish a clear policy that protects new homeowners from ongoing estate rentcharges and management fees.

Residents already pay full council tax. They should not face additional mandatory charges for the maintenance of open spaces that function as public amenities.

New developments must be fair from day one.

We urge the council to act now.

Sign the petition and tell the council to adopt open spaces on new housing estates.
