The Big Stink how Anglian Water are polluting our rivers

Rochford District Liberal Democrats have condemned the Government for letting the sewage crisis continue, both locally and nationwide.
Last year, data from the Environment Agency shows that a total of 1526 hours of continuous sewage dumping took place in our area – discharged into local rivers including the Crouch.
Across England 3.6 million hours of sewage dumping took place - the highest number on record. Our local water company Anglian Water alone were responsible for 1526 hours of sewage dumping.
Local Lib Dem Councillor Matt O’Leary says this national scandal must end;
“We need decisive action right now. It is a disgrace that sewage dumping continues at such a scale in our local area. Successive Conservative and Labour Governments have failed everyone by letting this continue.”
“The Liberal Democrats are the only party with a plan to tackle this crisis.”
“We are calling for the weak, ineffective water regulator OFWAT to be replaced with a new Clean Water Authority - with the power to revoke licences of water companies who fail to cut their pollution of our waters and beauty spots.”
“The sewage scandal is a national crisis that shows no signs of getting better under either Labour or the Conservatives. Our local area is being severely affected. Our natural areas are being polluted almost continuously with sewage. It is time for action."
